Family Time
We had a wonderful hike this past Saturday. My husband, son, and I went on the Pinhoti trail here in Alabama. It was the first time we did this particular trail and we were pleasantly surprised. The trail was well marked with blazes and easy to follow. This isn’t always the case with trails in this area.
We made a day of the hike this time. There were stops along to way to look at the magnificent views, take photographs and just relax and enjoy nature. Hiking is one of my all time favorite activities. It’s so relaxing and beautiful in the woods. I get many great photographs that I share with others. Passing the beauty along is one way to share in the fun.
Lunch was served sitting on boulders on top of the mountain. We have a little stove that uses a canister of gas to cook. It’s great for little lunches, those in the bags, such as Mountain House. It was nice having a picnic on the mountain.
Do y’all go hiking? Where are your favorite spots? So far, my favorite trail here in Alabama is the Chinnabee. We haven’t made our way through them all yet though!
Tell me about your hiking experiences. I’d love to hear about them.

Man, I realized reading your blog that I haven’t been hiking in a long time. Nothing compares to being outdoors, smelling the trees and fresh air, and just being awed my nature… Shoot, I think I may have to go for a hike with the family this weekend! We have some awesome ones in Western Washington. You can’t beat the view of the mountains on a clear day!
I bet you have some great places to hike. And even in summer you don’t have to worry about snakes, right?
your drescription of the trail makes one go for a hike, it is so lovely having to share lunch sitting on boulders on top of the moutains. hiking is my favorite exercise too, but i can not choose which one would be my favorite place to hike, i love hiking closer to the ocean, i love being in mountains too, i love the geological formations in desert too, but if I have to choose, I will choose the Eastern Sierra here in CA, it is not very close to San Diego where I live, but I really love it there, I like granite peaks and mountains, pine forests, and I can go down to the desert in an instant, only that it is far from the ocean
I guess, we can not have them all. Second would be Big Sur, again, not too close to San Diego, but I love it there since the mountains kiss the sea. Though, I love hiking here in San Diego too, at least, closer to home.
Well, we don’t have the ocean close enough here or I’m sure we’d do some hiking there. I really want to come to California after seeing your pictures!
Nope, no snakes, unless we go to Eastern Washington!
That would be so nice! Snakes are the worst thing about hiking around here in the spring and summer.
